Knutsford Express opens new depot at Sangster's Airport for Seamless passenger connection

Montego Bay, St. James, (January 9, 2018). Stressing the need for a seamless connection with arriving and departing passengers, Knutsford Express, officially opened its Sangster International Airport, Montego Bay depot, for luxury bus service and courier service on Tuesday, January 9.

Dubbed ‘City2City in comfort and style’, the move is also aimed at creating a multimodal environment in the form of a transit hub that international travelers have become accustomed to in major destinations.

It will also create additional employment as well as improve ease and independence of travel for commuters.

"Knutsford is a company that prides itself on comfort, safety and reliability,” explained Oliver Townsend, the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

“We are pleased that in our 11th year of business that residents, visitors and members of the Diaspora alike continue to appreciate the high standards that our scheduled luxury coach service provides.”

Townsend also points to the growth of Montego Bay, adding that the economy in recent times has brought with it added traffic congestion, particularly between the Sangster International Airport and downtown Montego Bay where the company’s Pier One depot is located.

“With the traffic congestion between the airport and downtown Montego Bay, commuters had to spend an unreasonable amount of time in traffic to get to us and then they end up passing the airport again which doesn’t make any sense…certainly not a very efficient way in which to operate," he added.

“With that in mind, we had to accelerate our efforts in improving the comfort, convenience, cost and efficiency of our service to our valued customers and passengers,” Townsend further explained.

He also noted that the tourism industry stands to benefit tremendously, adding that “we expect the players in our smaller resort towns to capitalize on the affordability, frequency, safety and comfort that our service offers, thereby allowing them to significantly increase their business.”

“We now have a situation where returning Jamaicans and tourists will be able to connect with our scheduled service across the island directly from the airport," Townsend added.

"We believe that the terminal is going to expand the market based on the feedback we get from overseas companies who are in the business of developing travel plans or sending relatives to Jamaica, this will mean a lot to them."

The new terminal is the latest development for the bus company, which, since launching an initial public offering (IPO) on the Jamaica Stock Exchange some four years ago, has not only quadrupled its offering per share but has been keen on increasing the satisfaction of its commuters.
