Global PR Firm Donates Books to Jamaican Children Print E-mail

The literary division of the global public relations firm Ruder Finn - Planned Television Arts (PTA) donated several hundred books to Negril Education Environmental Trust (NEET), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the educational improvement of Jamaican children by establishing libraries across the island of Jamaica, at the Second Annual Kidz ‘N Keyboardz "Walk for Literacy" - 3 mile Walkathon held on Saturday July 24th, 2010 in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, New York. 

 

The books were presented by Kristin Clifford, Vice President of Planned Television Arts (PTA) and Dell Long, a free lance publicist for PTA.  The books were received by Winston Wellington, Chairman and Founder of NEET and Wayne DeLeon, CEO of Kidz ‘N Keyboardz.

 

Wellington and DeLeon were both grateful for the donation as it is their vision to build several well equipped libraries across JamaicaWellington was visibly excited on receiving the library books as he explained his mission, "I am deeply encouraged by this donation.  It will help immensely in our continued efforts to build libraries that are so greatly needed for our children all over Jamaica. Libraries are vital to education and access to good books is indispensable to the learning process".

 

Both Wellington and DeLeon are proud of their efforts in bringing the necessary educational resources to enhance the learning experience for children throughout Jamaica.  So far NEET has established eight libraries across Jamaica and Kidz ‘N Keyboardz has been instrumental in organizing donations of computers to these libraries and other libraries in Jamaica.  Kidz ‘N Keyboard founder De Leon in expressing his gratitude for the book donation said. "Nothing brings me more happiness than children attaining knowledge.  My organization is fully committed to helping the children of Jamaica gain computer literacy and developing skills for the future."  David Hahn, Director of Ruder Finn Planned Television Arts stated that he understands the educational urgency for literacy programs globally, to especially benefit children and that his company, Ruder Finn was a proud part of this endeavor.

 

All donated books and computers are being shipped to Jamaica complimentary by Dennis Hawthorne, CEO of Dennis Shipping as his contribution to improving the lives and education of the children of Jamaica.
